Primary Years (Cambridge)

OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL PROGRAMME

Our primary school learners are a treat to teach. The curriculum is carefully designed to meet the curiosity of our young Sicasians and is increasingly moving towards an inquiry based pedagogy. The curriculum team is dedicated to the provision of a holistic, 360 degree learning model whereby students are encouraged to identify opportunities in their surroundings to apply their knowledge attained in the classroom.
SICAS Primary Grade I-V follows Cambridge Assessment International Education, CAIE, affiliated with University of Cambridge, UK.  The curriculum, instructional methodology in the classroom and assessments follows CAIE Cambridge Primary* curricula for key subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Global perspective. Other disciplines that makes the learning experience of junior students include Art, Geography, History, ICT (Computers), Music, Physical Education and French as a foreign language.

SIGNIFICANT FEATURES OF OUR PROGRAMME

  1. The Cambridge Global Perspectives coursework through which our students develop outstanding transferable skills such as critical thinking, research, reflection and collaboration.

  2. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education that equips the student with the necessary skillset to keep abreast with the ever evolving 21st century. You will find our learners experimenting with robots and coming up with innovative Lego structures to push their creative boundaries.

At the end of Primary years i.e. Grade 5, students sit for Cambridge Primary Checkpoint. These tests have been designed to assess students in English, Mathematics and Science, and give valuable feedback on students’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education
