Knowledge - Reigns - Supreme

Primary Years

Our Primary school is typically for students aged 5 to 11 years. The Cambridge primary framework provides curricula for the key subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Global perspectives. Cambridge Global Perspectives is a unique, transformational programme that helps students at every stage of school education, develops outstanding transferable skills, including critical thinking, research and collaboration. This innovative and stimulating skills-based programme places academic study in a practical, real-world context. The programme develops the skills of research, analysis, evaluation, reflection, collaboration and communication and offers valuable opportunities to reinforce links with and skills learnt in other subjects.
Another significant feature of SICAS academic program is the STEM education that starts from primary years. To keep abreast with 21st century world ____a world that’s becoming increasingly complex, where success is driven not only by what you know, but by what you can do with what you know, it’s more important than ever for our youth to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to solve tough problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and make sense of information. These are the types of skills that students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math—subjects collectively known as STEM. In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past. STEM activities provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for the student. Making math and science both fun and interesting helps the student to do much more than just learn.
The primary years curriculum also includes other subjects i.e. Art, Geography, History, ICT (Computers), Music, Physical Education and offers French as foreign language. The French curriculum conforms to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) by a spiral progression, working on the five skills of the target language. We work in collaboration with the French Center in Lahore to ensure the best experience of learning a foreign language with high quality service. The curriculum prepares students for DELF examinations (An international exam recognized around the world and conducted by French ministry of education). Near the end of middle school, the students sit for DELF A1 proficiency test i.e. basic level.
However, academic subjects are only half of the story. Where we believe we excel is in putting the child and his or her needs and situation first. So not only do we recognize that each child is individual, but also that every day is different and each provides another opportunity for success and happiness. Teachers at SICAS understand that children are unique and do not all share the same learning style. They take time to learn the unique strengths and weaknesses of every student and strive to provide a wide array of educational methods to implement instruction. The school strives to provide a consistently challenging curriculum to benefit all learners within the classroom setting. Each grade-level team works together to identify individual student needs and abilities then develops strategies to address those needs effectively.
At the end of Primary years, students sit for Cambridge primary Checkpoint examination. These tests have been designed to assess students in English, Mathematics and Science, and give valuable feedback on students’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education
